Three out of every four cases of bladder cancer occur in males. And the simple prescription to drink more water may help. According to one study, men who averaged more than two and a half quarts of fluid intake per day had half the risk of bladder cancer as men who drank less than half that amount. For each eight ounces of daily fluid intake, the risk of bladder cancer decreases by 7%. While all types of fluid were beneficial in this respect, water topped the list by a narrow margin. It was also found that high fluid intake reduces a man's risk of kidney stones, which are three and a half times more common in men than women.
